Insurance and Self-Pay Options

We are in-network with several major insurance providers. Please contact us or your insurance company directly to confirm your coverage and benefits. Clients using insurance are responsible for any co-pays, deductibles, or non-covered services as determined by their plan.

As of 5/2025 we accept: Aetna, Cigna, and KanCare.

If you prefer not to use insurance, or if we are not in-network with your provider, we offer a competitive self-pay rate of $150 per session.

Sliding Scale Fees

To make counseling more accessible, because of the generosity of our donor community, we offer a sliding scale fee based on household income and family size. This option is available to clients who are uninsured, underinsured, or facing financial hardship. During your intake process, we’ll discuss your eligibility and request documentation to help determine your rate.

Our current sliding scale fee structure is to the right:

Sessions with Student Therapists — $0 to $25

Prairie Sky is proud to support the next generation of mental health professionals through our partnership with Friends University. Under the supervision of licensed clinicians, our student therapists provide high-quality, compassionate counseling at a significantly reduced rate.

Sessions with a student therapist are available on an adjusted rate from $0 to $25 per session, based on your financial situation. These sessions are a great option for clients who are uninsured, underinsured, or simply seeking affordable care in a supportive environment.

All student therapists are advanced-level graduate students who are carefully selected and receive ongoing supervision to ensure safe, ethical, and effective treatment.

Payment Timing

Payment is due at the time of service. We accept credit cards, debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and checks. We ask clients to have a card on file that enables us to process payments automatically. We currently process payments on the Tuesday after the previous week’s appointments.

Missed Appointments and Late Cancellations

Your appointment time is reserved just for you. We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed without notice, may be charged a $40 fee. Exceptions are made for illness and emergencies.
